IDE Joins the Remi Network to Power Faster Cross-Border Payments and Remittances

Dubai, 21 July 2026

Moving money across borders is still slower, costlier and less transparent than it should be, especially for the businesses and communities that depend on the UAE's busiest corridors. Legacy correspondent-banking rails were not built for a real-time, digital-first world, and the gap between what customers expect and what the system delivers keeps widening.

Today we are taking a step to close that gap. Remi and International Development Exchange (IDE), a currency exchange and remittance provider licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE, have signed a partnership agreement under which IDE joins the Remi Network as a regulated Network Operator.

Remi operates a regulated technology network that connects licensed financial institutions, banks, exchange houses and money transfer operators, with the platforms and businesses that need to move money across borders. As a Network Operator, IDE brings its licensed currency exchange and remittance capabilities to transactions routed through the network. It is a pairing of complementary strengths: Remi's technology for routing and orchestrating cross-border payments with greater speed, lower cost and full transparency, and IDE's Central Bank-licensed business with more than two decades serving customers across Dubai and Sharjah.

What the partnership covers

  • Regulated exchange and remittance capacity for payments routed through the Remi network.

  • Technical and operational integration connecting IDE's systems to the network.

  • Compliance-first operations within the Central Bank of UAE's regulatory framework.

  • A foundation to grow across payments, remittances and financial technology over time.

"Welcoming IDE onto the network is exactly what Remi was built for," said A. Tony Amer, Founder and CEO of Remi. "With more than two decades serving customers across the UAE and a Central Bank licence behind it, IDE knows this market and the communities that rely on it. Pairing that experience with modern settlement infrastructure means faster, more transparent and more affordable money movement for the people and businesses who need it most."

“At IDE, we believe that innovation should enhance trust, accessibility, and customer experience,” said Mohammad Ibrahim Abdelbari, General Manager of IDE. “Our partnership with Remi strengthens our ability to deliver faster, more transparent, and reliable cross-border payment services while upholding the highest regulatory and compliance standards. By combining IDE's local expertise with Remi's technology-driven platform, we are creating new opportunities to better serve individuals and businesses across the UAE and beyond.”

Further details, including specific services and go-live timing, will be shared as onboarding progresses.
